Job Summary
As a Fastener Development CNC Machinist, you will be an integral component within the product development team, utilising the R&D lab machining cell to rapidly develop and manufacture a range of new and innovative prototype fasteners for automotive joining applications
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Fastener Technology Group product development team to develop and manufacture new and innovative prototype fasteners
2. Be competent in the safe use of specialist laboratory equipment, testing equipment and production equipment e.g., CNC lathes, manual lathes, manual milling machines and destructive test equipment
3. Safely use chemicals and chemical handling equipment both in the lab and the production areas and follow MSDS and COSHH requirements for the use and storage of hazardous chemicals
4. Collaborate with other departments and work within cross functional teams to support the development and implementation of new fastener designs and contribute to a broad range of research and business objectives
5. Identify suitable training courses and actively seek Continuing Professional Development activities
Education / Qualifications/Experience
Essential
6. Completed Apprenticeship or NVQs in CNC and manual machining or qualification equivalent experience
7. 5 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science. Grade C+
xperience
Essential
8. 3+ years’ experience as a machinist using CNC & manual turning/milling machines
9. Knowledge of manufacturing/production processes
10. Experience using quality and inspection equipment to verify part conformity
11. The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools
12. Able to understand and interpret engineering/manufacturing drawings
13. Competent computer skills - including Word processing Excel, PowerPoint, and Email
Desirable
14. Awareness of ISO or IATF or similar Quality Management Systems
15. Manufacturing of small precision components
16. Programming using Fanuc programming language
17. Operating and programming sliding head lathes
18. Specifying and procuring suitable cutting tools
19. Experience using CAD packages; Solid Edge, Solid works, Autodesk Inventor or similar
20. Experience using CAM packages
