Job Description
About the Role
A UK-based igames studio is expanding its art team and looking for a Senior Creative Concept Artist to define the visual direction of upcoming mobile-first slot games. This is a hands-on visual development role focused on creating themes, shaping art identity, and delivering clear, production-ready concepts that guide the rest of the team.
What You’ll Do
* Develop high-quality concept art that defines themes, symbols, characters, environments, props, and UI direction.
* Explore and build strong visual identities across a wide variety of themes (fantasy, mythology, seasonal, sci-fi, cute/casual, historical, etc.).
* Produce mood boards, colour scripts, style frames, and visual briefs that production artists and animators can execute cleanly.
* Provide clear feedback to artists to keep visual consistency across assets and animation.
* Refresh and modernise existing art styles to improve aesthetic appeal, readability, and polish.
* Communicate visual intent directly to designers, animators, and developers to ensure concepts translate well into final game assets.
* Work quickly, interpret briefs accurately, and deliver concepts that don’t require multiple rounds of clarification.
Requirements
The team is looking for a concept artist who can work independently, adapt to new styles, and produce concepts that are immediately usable by production artists. To be aligned with the role, you should have:
* A portfolio showing strong range across styles, themes, and moods, not just one signature style.
* Excellent drawing, painting, colour, composition, and visual communication fundamentals.
* Experience in concept art or visual development for games, animation, or entertainment.
* The ability to break down concepts clearly through callouts, turnarounds, and clean production-ready direction.
* Confidence providing feedback to junior/mid artists and supporting them through the pipeline.
* Understanding of how 2D concepts translate into UI, animation, and final production artwork.
* Strong interpretation skills, able to follow briefs accurately the first time without heavy guidance.
* Ability to adapt quickly and produce clear, actionable concepts suited for fast-moving development.
* Comfort working across varied themes and styles (stylised, casual, semi-realistic, creature design, etc.).
* A collaborative, communicative approach, clarity is key in this pipeline.
Candidates who rely heavily on one art style, struggle to follow briefs, or require extensive handholding during concept translation typically do not perform well in this environment.
Logistics
* Work setup: Onsite 4 days / 1 day remote.
* Right to work: UK only (British Citizens, ILR, Settled Status). No visas or sponsorship.
* Employment: Permanent, full-time.
* Start date: Flexible, the team is happy to wait for the right artist.
