Overview
The CRUK Cambridge Institute (CI), a department of the University of Cambridge, is one of Europe\'s top cancer research institutes. The Cambridge Institute Genomics Core (CIGC) provides Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) services for CRUK CI and the wider University, supporting bulk DNA/RNA library prep, sequencing, single-cell library prep, and spatial platforms. Genomics is our passion and we aim to generate exceptionally high-quality data to translate research.
Responsibilities
* Assist in RNA/DNA sample quality control, bulk DNA/RNA library preparation using standard kits from different suppliers, and sequencing on Illumina and ONT platforms.
* Support single-cell library prep service including 10X workflows and related cell isolation/processing; assist with data quality analysis and interaction with service users.
* Receive and process single-cell and spatial samples, curate LIMS data, and pilot new methods/technologies to enhance research quality.
* Work with instrument supplier technical support, troubleshoot issues, and escalate to a senior team member as needed.
* Contribute to testing and implementing new technologies (bulk DNA/RNA, single cells, spatial platforms) for materials of varying quality.
* Operate with initiative in daily duties and participate in pilot experiments and technology validation.
Qualifications
* Degree in biological or biotechnological sciences.
* Experience with molecular biology techniques including PCR/qPCR, DNA/RNA/single-cell library preparation, and NGS (short and long read sequencing).
* Excellent communicator and team player with a proactive approach to delivering high-quality genomics services.
Employment details
Fixed term: funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance. Some out-of-hours work and travel to national seminars/meetings may be required. Interviews are expected to be held on 18 and 19 November.
