We are currently seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Wythenshawe. This is an immediate start position and will play a key role in improving student attendance and engagement.
About the Role:
As the school’s Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring daily attendance, identifying patterns of absence, and working closely with students, families, and external agencies to promote regular school attendance. You will be part of the school’s pastoral and safeguarding team and contribute directly to student well-being and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate attendance records using SIMS (or similar systems)
* Make first-day absence calls and follow up on unexplained absences
* Liaise with parents, carers, and external services to address attendance concerns
* Produce attendance reports for senior leaders and support attendance improvement plans
* Support the safeguarding team in identifying and addressing potential issues
Requirements:
* Previous experience as an Attendance Officer in a school setting is essential
* Strong IT and administrative skills, including the use of school systems such as SIMS
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner
* A proactive, organised and empathetic approach
