Are you an experienced Children’s Social Worker passionate about supporting young people as they transition into adulthood? Network Recruitment Wales is recruiting a Social Worker to join the Fourteen Plus Team within the Vale of Glamorgan Children & Young People’s Services. This temporary role is to cover a vacancy pending permanent recruitment and offers the opportunity to join a highly stable, well-bonded, and supportive team.
About the TeamThe Fourteen Plus Team works with:
3. Looked After Children aged 14 and over
4. Homeless young people aged 16–18
5. Care leavers up to the age of 25
The team is committed to meaningful engagement, empowering young people to actively shape their own lives and influence service development. You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary team including a Team Manager, Practitioner Manager, Social Workers, Social Care Officers, Young Person Advisors, and dedicated business support, with strong partnership working across services.
What You’ll Do
6. Work directly with children, young people, and their families/carers across all aspects of statutory social work.
7. Complete pathway planning, assessments, and reviews to support young people towards independence.
8. Undertake court work and prepare high-quality reports as required.
9. Manage a caseload of complex cases, ensuring safeguarding and statutory responsibilities are met.
10. Build effective relationships with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
11. Carry out visits across the Vale of Glamorgan and beyond, working from the Barry base.
What We’re Looking For
12. A qualified and experienced Social Worker with relevant experience in children’s services, particularly with adolescents and care leavers.
13. Registration with Social Care Wales (essential).
14. Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and best practice in children’s social care.
15. Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
16. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
17. Flexibility to meet service demands.
Essential Requirements
18. Eligibility to work in the UK.
19. Enhanced DBS check.
20. Social Care Wales registration.
21. Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
22. 3 years of references/work history.
