Community Safety & Principal Enforcement Officer
12 Months Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity
Hackney Council is looking for an exceptional Community Safety and Enforcement Principal Enforcement Officer (PEO) within our Community Safety, Enforcement and Business Regulation Service on a 1‑year fixed term contract.
Roles & Responsibilities:
* Carry out a wide range of enforcement duties in relation to Noise, Community Safety, Anti‑Social Behaviour, Street Scene, environmental enforcement (Fly tipping, Graffiti, Fly posting, Littering, Highway obstructions, etc.) and general public realm enforcement as required.
* Case‑manage enforcement actions under pressure and ensure accurate, service‑specific record‑keeping to meet reporting obligations.
* Assign wards, address localised problems, challenge and change behaviours to support the Mayor’s priorities and Council objectives.
* Deal skillfully and sensitively with complainants and victims of Anti‑Social Behaviour; listen to concerns and manage expectations.
* Work alongside other Principal Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Officers, Technical Support and wider Community Safety & Business Regulation Service teams to deliver the best service to residents and the public.
* Report to an Enforcement Manager and maintain a proactive, driven, and excellent communication approach.
Qualifications & Expectations:
* Proven experience in effective case management within enforcement or related statutory areas.
* Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive and driven with the ability to transfer skills across varied enforcement duties.
* Diligence in maintaining accurate records and compliance with Council policies and procedures.
* Successful enhanced DBS check.
