The Digital Content Manager will lead the planning, creation, and optimisation of high quality digital content to support organisational priorities, engagement, and ensure accessible, user centred online experiences. Working within a public sector environment, the post holder will champion openness, transparency, and service focusedmunication across all digital channels. You must be based in the central belt area of Scotland to be considered.
Your new role
1. Develop and deliver a digital content strategy aligned with organisational objectives and statutory requirements.
2. Own and maintain the content roadmap, ensuring digital content supports service delivery and public engagement.
3. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to translateplex policy, guidance, and service information into clear, accessible public facing content.
4. Produce, edit, and publish high‑quality content for websites, intranet, email, and social media.
5. Ensure all content is accurate, accessible, user centred, andpliant with public sector standards (including WCAG AA accessibility requirements).
6. Create engaging multimedia content (graphics, video, infographics) to support campaigns and service updates.
7. Oversee content within the organisation’s Content Management System (CMS), ensuring information architecture remains intuitive and up to date.
8. Work closely with IT, digital, and external suppliers to support continuous improvement of digital channels.
9. Lead on SEO, site search optimisation, and content performance monitoring.
10. Develop and maintain digital content guidelines, tone of voice, and standards in line with UKernment Digital Service (GDS) best practice.
11. Provide training, advice, and quality assurance for content editors across the organisation.
12. Ensurepliance with data protection, informationernance, accessibility legislation, and internal policies.
13. Use analytics tools ( Google Analytics, Siteimprove, Hotjar) to monitor performance and user behaviour.
14. Produce regular performance reports and rmendations for improvement.
15. Lead user testing activities, incorporating user feedback into ongoing content optimisation.
16. Build strong relationships with service teams, senior leaders, and partner agencies to understand needs and deliver effective content solutions.
17. Support digital campaigns, public consultations, and emergencymunications when required.
What you'll need to succeed
18. Proven experience in managing digital content within a public sector,ernment, or similarlyplex organisation.
19. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplifyplex information.
20. Hands‑on experience with CMS platforms ( Drupal, WordPress, Sitecore, Umbraco).
21. Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, usability principles, and GDS‑style content design.
22. Experience using digital analytics tools to inform content decisions.
23. Ability to managepeting priorities and work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
24. Excellentmunication and stakeholder management skills.
