Join to apply for the Blood Transfusion Manager role at Lehrman Cameron Studio, LLC. We are seeking a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with experience in Blood Transfusion Science to apply for the full-time Blood Transfusion Manager post within the Blood Sciences Department at Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest.
They will be educated to an appropriate MSc level or have equivalent experience with an IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology/Transfusion, or Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice. They will need to be up to date with developments in the discipline and able to demonstrate relevant CPD in accordance with HCPC. They should have post-registration clinical and technical experience at Specialist Biomedical Scientist level, in-depth knowledge of complex instrumentation/ laboratory techniques and QA/QC procedures, and be able to lead a team. The post holder will provide advice and support to healthcare colleagues to promote the safe and effective use of blood transfusion.
Welsh language ability is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Blood Transfusion section of the Blood Sciences Laboratory, and work with the Health Board Blood Transfusion Team.
* Be an active member of the HDUHB Transfusion Leads Committee and Blood Transfusion Group.
* Direct day-to-day operations of the Blood Transfusion Department, ensure UKAS and BSQR compliance, and adhere to policies and training programmes.
* Involve in policy development, clinical audit, and education of laboratory staff; address human resources issues as required.
* Support and coordinate with the laboratory team in a contract shift pattern that supports round-the-clock services and out-of-hours rota responsibilities.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of regional network initiatives and service improvements.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with specialisation in Blood Transfusion.
* Educated to MSc level or equivalent, with IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology/Transfusion, or Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice.
* Up-to-date CPD in accordance with HCPC requirements.
* Post-registration clinical and technical experience at Specialist Biomedical Scientist level; strong knowledge of complex instrumentation, laboratory techniques, and QA/QC procedures.
* Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
* Desirable Welsh language ability; bilingual communication is welcomed.
The Blood Transfusion Laboratory uses the Ortho Vision Swift automated blood grouping system and operates within a UK regional framework. The Haematology laboratory includes Siemens ADVIA 2120i analysers and Werfen TOP Coagulation analysers. The Health Board is committed to bilingualism and staff development.

Note: The successful post holder will join the team at an exciting time and will become a key stakeholder in the development of the regional network of excellence. The post may transition from HDUHB employment to a regional management model in the future.
