We are seeking a compassionate, patient, caring, experienced Individual Needs Assistant to support with speech, communication and behaviour. Your practice will enhance and support our already committed and passionate team, both within the classroom environment and in our alternative provision spaces, including a sensory room.
Key Responsibilities will be:
* Supporting with daily activities and routines on a 1:1 basis
* Assisting with communication using appropriate methods and tools
* Helping manage and understand behaviour with empathy and consistency
* Encouraging positive social interactions and engagement
* Working closely with parents and professionals to ensure continuity of care and development
Ideal (but not all essential) candidate:
* Experience working with children with communication and behaviour challenges
* Understanding or interest in supporting with speech and language difficulties
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to adapt learning tasks and activities to suit the pupil they're working with
* Able to follow the lead of the teacher but recognise the unique needs of pupils you are working with
* Able to work well alongside colleagues in well-established and successful teams
* Able to read advice and liaise with outside agencies, putting recommendations into practice throughout the school day
* Able to energetically support pupils in the environment to help keep them safe
* Able to engage warmly and confidently with parents and carers
You will be working closely with class teachers, experienced teaching assistants and the school SENCO to provide individualised support, promoting everyone's personal development.
