We are currently recruiting, on behalf of our public sector client, for an enthusiastic and committed Mentor to support delivery of the Step Up Programme - an initiative focused on re-engaging young people (aged 16-24) who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
About the Role
The Mentor will be responsible for recruiting, supporting, and mentoring young people through a programme designed to build confidence, develop social and emotional skills, and ultimately support progression into education, training or employment.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by helping participants overcome personal, social, and educational barriers.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage and recruit young people onto the Step Up Programme in partnership with local agencies and community organisations.
* Act as a positive role model, mentor, and advocate, delivering personalised support and guidance.
* Plan and deliver group sessions, workshops, and one-to-one mentoring.
* Create and manage Personal Training Plans (PTPs) tailored to each participant's goals and needs.
* Support participants in exploring progression routes, attending placements, and developing essential life and employability skills.
* Liaise with internal college teams and external partners to ensure seamless support and opportunities.
* Maintain accurate records, contribute to quality assurance processes, and comply with all safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
Essential Criteria
* GCSE Maths & English (Grades A-C) or equivalent.
* Level 5 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. youth work, social work, education, etc.)
* Proven experience working with young people aged 16-24 in an educational or youth/community setting.
* Strong understanding of the barriers to education and experience addressing challenging behaviours.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and mentoring skills.
* Full current driving licence and access to a car (reasonable adjustments made for applicants with disabilities).

* Experience working with multi-agency partners.
* Confidence delivering in both individual and group settings.
Additional Information
* Based in Coleraine; some travel may be required.
* Candidates must be willing to undergo an AccessNI check and provide references.
