Marine / Heavy Civils Engineer
Permanent, Full-Time | Field and Office Based
Location: Belfast Office | Projects in Belfast Harbour and Dublin Harbour
Salary: Up to £40,000 (DOE) plus benefits
A leading civil and structural engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Marine / Heavy Civils Engineer on a permanent, full-time basis. Based at their Belfast office, this role offers a mix of office and site-based work, supporting key marine and harbour projects in both Belfast Harbour and Dublin Harbour.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with proven experience in marine or heavy civil engineering to contribute to significant infrastructure projects and to develop their career within a highly respected consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the design, preparation of contract documentation, and administration of marine and civil engineering projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
* Design marine structures and associated infrastructure for commercial ports, harbours, and coastal environments.
* Contribute to sea defence and coastal protection projects.
* Prepare detailed project specifications and Bills of Quantities.
* Supervise technicians in the preparation of detailed engineering drawings.
* Attend client and design team meetings, providing technical input and updates.
* Organise and manage site surveys and site investigations.
* Prepare feasibility studies, condition inspection reports, and project appraisals.
* Ensure all work complies with the consultancy’s Quality Management System.
* Provide input to Health and Safety plans from the designer’s perspective.
* Support additional civil engineering projects within the consultancy as required.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in marine or heavy civil engineering.
* Direct exposure to marine structures, sea defences, or coastal protection systems.
* Strong design, project coordination, and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Flexible and willing to travel to project sites in Belfast and Dublin as required.
* Adaptable, proactive, and committed to high standards of delivery.
