A specialist SEN school in Sunderland is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition, communication needs and sensory sensitivities.
The school places a strong emphasis on structured learning, communication development and emotional regulation, creating a safe and predictable environment for pupils.
Location: Sunderland
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Daily Routine
* 8:30 am staff start
* Structured lessons with small class sizes
* Sensory breaks and communication sessions
* Supervised social times
* 4:30 pm finish with debrief and planning
The Role
* Supporting pupils during lessons
* Encouraging engagement and focus
* Supporting communication strategies
* Assisting with emotional regulation
* Working collaboratively with teaching staff
Experience Requirements
Desirable but not essential:
* Experience working with children or SEN
* Care or support background
* Interest in autism and communication needs
