If you are an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 Occupational therapist with relevant experience, an exciting opportunity has arisen. You will be a valued member of the integrated OT/PT therapy respiratory team as well as working closely with specialist SLTs and Dietitians.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to facilitate change and development, and a flexible approach. Clinical knowledge and experience working with critical care and respiratory patient cohorts are essential. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent team working skills and experience of service development in this area is desirable.
The post can be offered as a development opportunity to start as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with progression to Band 7 upon completion of set competencies. This will be achieved through the completion of key core competencies by the end of a 12‑month period and you will be supported to gain in‑depth knowledge/experience in complex ICU case management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work autonomously and as part of the wider MDT. This development opportunity will include an individualised competency framework supporting the successful candidate to ensure they have the necessary skills and experience to undertake the role of the Advanced Occupational Therapist.
The Post Holder Will Be
* Deliver advanced Occupational Therapy intervention for our 21‑bedded general Critical Care Unit and 22‑bedded respiratory ward.
* Take a lead role in advanced cognitive/functional assessment and treatment of patients who frequently have complex, acute and/or chronic conditions, including psychosocial/emotional and cognitive issues.
* Be responsible for participation in service reviews, audits and implementation of evidence‑based therapy practice/standards alongside Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, Highly Specialist Speech and Language therapist and Dietitian.
* Provide formal supervision to Band 5/6 Occupational Therapists and/or therapy assistants/students and informal support to Band 5/6 physiotherapists.

The 0‑19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for children and families.
