Recovery Navigator We have 3.0 FTE vacancy Location: Swindon Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the Southwest offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other support needs. About the Service As part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), Second Step delivers community mental health support in collaboration with Alabaré, Missing Link and Nilaari. Together, we’re transforming mental health services by focusing on trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally inclusive approaches. The Recovery Navigator role offers either a traditional or peer-based approach, where individuals with lived experience of mental health can provide powerful, hope-inspiring support as part of their role. About You As a Recovery Navigator, you’ll work closely with individuals with moderate to severe mental health needs, helping them set and achieve personal recovery goals and connect to meaningful support within their community. You’ll collaborate with health professionals, VCSE partners, and other support networks to provide a seamless experience. You will: - Conduct support conversations using tools like DIALOG to create tailored, strengths-based support plans.- Deliver person-centred, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed interventions.- Use your own lived experience (if applicable) to provide hope and connection.- Support individuals with navigation around housing, employment, relationships, and mental wellbeing.- Maintain accurate and timely casework, risk assessments, and outcome monitoring.- Promote recovery, inclusion, and equity in everything you do. You’ll need: - At least two years’ experience supporting people with mental health or complex needs.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to manage caseloads, work flexibly, and build effective multi-agency partnerships.- Confidence in IT systems and record-keeping.- A deep understanding of recovery and trauma-informed practice.- If applying as a Peer Recovery Navigator, an ability to draw from your own recovery journey in a safe and supportive way. - The ability to travel to several appointments daily (including in rural areas with limited/ unreliable public transport) is essential What we offer: - A salary structure that offers annual pay progression - 26 days annual leave rising to 31, plus Bank Holidays - Workplace pension contributions - Internal CPD training - Family Friendly Policy - Travel expenses - Flexible Working Policy - Work mobile phone and laptop -Cycle to work scheme We especially welcome applications from those with lived experience and those from Black, Asian and minoritised communities.
