Background
Winterbourne House and garden is a unique heritage attraction, with the house being an accredited museum and the garden a Grade II listed Botanic garden. Open to the public, it welcomes nearly 100,000 visitors a year. We are looking for someone to work on our busy Reception for the next couple of months while we recruit for a permanent vacancy.
Role Summary
The role sits in Winterbourne’s Visitor Services Team and is based on our busy Visitor Reception. You can be welcoming over 500 visitors a day, selling the relevant tickets, checking Membership, dealing with enquiries, events and access. Working alone you will be happy to work to procedures but also used to using your intuition to deal with situations as they occur. The role will suit someone who thrives on working in a busy face to face customer service role.
Main duties
* Visitor Reception
* Opening of the visitor areas, completing daily H&S and security checks.
* Welcome all visitors to the property, issuing tickets, checking Membership cards etc.,
* Actively promote Gift Aid on Entry, Winterbourne Membership and Guidebook sales.
* To operate electronic cash register/card transaction machines with the appropriate levels of skill and accuracy.
* Monitor visitor flow in order to efficiently minimise queues and prevent overcrowding.
* Be familiar with and implement agreed levels of customer care always providing excellent customer service.
* Acquire a sound knowledge of the House and Garden to ensure all visitors are provided with accurate information.
* Check and tidy visitor areas, equipment and facilities throughout the day to a high standard of cleanliness.
* Assist in the locking of the site at the end of the day, ensuring security procedures are met.
* Complete all necessary records and documentation accurately, and legibly if handwritten. Carry out prompt dispatch of relevant forms and documents where necessary.
* Administration
* Ensure GDPR is adhered to in relation to all personal data.
* Liaise and work in close co-operation with the Winterbourne Team.
* Observe all Health & Safety regulations as set out by the University in accordance with its statutory obligations.
* Personal Development
* Attend training as necessary and undertake one-to-one training as and when required in order to maintain agreed standards of visitor welcome/service.
Person Specification
* Previous experience in a face-to-face customer service role (Reception/retail)
* Strong verbal communication skills with excellent spoken English
* Proficient in IT, including Outlook, Excel, and database data input
* Knowledge of GDPR regulations
* Experience with till/PDQ systems
* Flexible and able to work weekdays and weekends (typically 3 days out of 7, 10am to 5pm)
* Available to work regularly from the start of July for 13 weeks
