We are seeking a full-time, flexible Medical Receptionist to join our team at the surgery, due to an increase in call volume and new patient registrations. This role involves 95% phone work and some administrative tasks related to calls.
The desirable candidate would have:
* Flexibility for shifts, to be agreed weekly based on availability
* Call Centre experience
* Ability to work set shifts and days according to Surgery requirements, including a minimum of 3 half days
* A positive, can-do attitude and good team working skills
* Experience in General Practice Reception is an advantage but not essential
* Experience with EMIS is an advantage but not essential
* Full commitment to a 2-week training program upon acceptance
Responsibilities include:
* Greeting and directing patients
* Handling telephone requests and inquiries
* Processing repeat prescriptions
* Scheduling appointments with healthcare professionals
* Requesting home visits
* Managing messages and test result communications
* Processing non-NHS claims and private referrals
* Collecting fees for non-NHS services
* Updating patient records
* Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Main duties of the job
* Greeting and directing patients upon arrival
* Handling telephone requests and inquiries
* Processing repeat prescriptions and managing appointments
* Requesting home visits and delivering messages
* Processing forms and managing patient records
* Testing telephone message clarity
* Securing premises and setting alarms
* Receiving specimens and batch delivery
* Performing other essential duties as needed
