Salary range : £37,694 - £46,049 FTE : 1.0 (35 hours) Term : Fixed (24 months) Closing date : 2 November 2025 Opportunities have arisen within our HR Directorate for experienced HR Advisers to join our busy HR teams. As HR Adviser, you will provide professional advice and support on a broad range of generalist HR issues, including recruitment and selection and employee relations, and will contribute to University wide activities such as policy development, engagement with trade unions, committees, HR projects and working groups. There are a number of posts currently available on a full-time basis, however applications for part-time working will also be considered. These posts will be based within our city centre campus and will operate on a hybrid-working basis. To be considered for the role, you will be educated to degree level, or have equivalent relevant experience, and be CIPD qualified. You will have a proven track record of working in HR at a professional level and you will have a track record of successfully and independently handling an HR casework portfolio, including disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings, harassment allegations etc. You will have knowledge and experience of pay and reward systems including job evaluation and equal pay compliance, experience of supporting restructuring activities and experience of consulting and negotiating with trade unions. You will have an ability to successfully adopt a consultancy style and an HR business partnering approach, you will have a well-developed knowledge of relevant HR best practice and employment legislation, an ability to interpret relevant University policies, employment legislation and good practice and apply it independently to complex cases. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to persuade, influence and articulate complex information in an accessible way, and present to a range of audiences. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will operate largely independently within a busy environment, dealing with diverse stakeholders on a range of HR matters. To be successful in this role, a flexible, problem-solving approach is essential to meeting the demands of the posts.
