Overview
Experienced Youth Worker needed to manage classes in a secondary school in Preston. This role combines the skills of a youth worker with the structure of a classroom environment. You will be responsible for managing a class of students, ensuring a positive and productive atmosphere that fosters engagement, confidence, and positive behaviour. This is suitable for someone with a proven track record of working with young people aged 11–16.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and supervise classes, ensuring a structured and supportive learning environment.
* Utilise youth work principles to address behavioural challenges and promote well-being.
* Work with students to build social and emotional skills, and improve readiness to learn.
* Collaborate with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student progress and attendance.
* Serve as a mentor and positive role model for students.
* Contribute to the school's ethos of creating a safe and inclusive community.
What We're Looking For
* Essential Experience: demonstrable experience as a Youth Worker or similar role with young people aged 11–16.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to command respect.
* A firm but fair approach with exceptional communication and de-escalation skills.
* Knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies.
* A commitment to the social and emotional development of young people.
