We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Technician to join our team working on St Marys. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary of £25,300 per annum (with the opportunity to join the Operator Progression Scheme), plus benefits.
This busy and varied role requires good communication skills and a flexible approach to teamwork.
Responsibilities of our Operations Technician:
* Monitoring and managing raw water sources to optimize their use on the islands
* Operating and maintaining water treatment processes, including desalination and wastewater treatment, following protocols and best practices
* Completing maintenance tasks across all islands to ensure a continuous supply of high-quality water
* Repairing and replacing network assets, responding to bursts, and maintaining hygiene standards
* Calibrating instrumentation, documenting readings, analyzing water consumption trends, and identifying leaks
* Using technology to monitor system status and diagnose faults
* Communicating effectively with customers and stakeholders, escalating issues as necessary, and logging in systems
* Collaborating with the Engineering department on solutions and investments for the islands
* Maintaining tools and equipment in good condition
* Participating in standby rota
What we are looking for in our Operations Technician:
* 5 GCSEs at grades A-C, including Maths, English, and Science
* Ability to work well in a team and independently
* Effective communication skills
* A full UK driving license
* Ability to prioritize tasks and handle conflicting demands
* Experience in a utility-related or similar industry (desirable)
* Analytical skills to interpret information from various sources
* Ability to manage reactive issues efficiently
