Job title: Adult Community Learning Volunteer 1-2-1 support
Time commitment approximately 4 hours per week
Reports to Adult Community Learning Manager
Duration September 2025 to July 202
A volunteer is required to provide 1-2-1 support for adult learners with additional learning needs in adult education classes, with the support of an adult education tutor. The volunteer would be required to support a learner in a Monday morning class at Tredegar Library and a learner in a basic IT class at Brynmawr Adult Education Centre on a Wednesday afternoon term time only.
Key responsibilities:
· Provide 1-2-1 support with reading, communication and basic IT skills for learners with additional learning needs
· To work with the ACL tutor to ensure that the learner can gain the skills needed to achieve an Agored Cymru qualification.
· To communicate clearly and positively with the learner and to work in a way that will promote equality of opportunity for all learners.
· To adapt simple resources to suit learners’ needs.
· To encourage learners to work independently where possible.
· Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding procedures.
Personal qualities needed:
· Excellent communication skills.
· Good levels of literacy, numeracy and IT.
· Reliable and punctual.
· Must be able to work with learners of all abilities in a fair and non-judgmental manner.
· Must be able to work as part of a team.
