About The Role
Location: Based at our Suez Blackburn HWRC site.
1. Salary £12.77 per hour.
2. This is a full time, fixed term position for 3 months.
3. Working 36 Winter Hours (01st October - 31/03/2026), and 44 Summer Hours (01/04/2026 - 30/09/2026) per week.
4. Working days are Thursday - Sunday.
What will I be doing?
Providing excellent levels of customer service, you will advise and assist members of the public on how to use the site in order to maximise recovery of materials they are depositing, which will involve:
5. Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
6. Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person, thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
7. Maintaining a tidy site within your areas of responsibility.
8. The role will involve extracting non-recyclables from contaminated skips and from black bag waste, as part of our ongoing drive to increase recycling rates within the region.
9. You will also be trained in the Re-Use Shop, including stocking items, pricing, and taking payments through the card machine.
10. It may also be required that you cover our other HWRC site in Darwen when needed.
What are the requirements?
With the potential to gain qualifications including IOSH health & safety and COTC level 4 (waste industry specific), we are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will be expected to join the current site team to ensure operations exceed the standards required.
What you will need is:
11. A good level of customer service and ability to work in a team.
12. Ideally prior mobile plant use is desirable but full training will be given.
13. A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
