Engineering Opportunities at Warwickshire County Council – EN001B
Engineering Design Services, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) is a civil engineering business unit within the Local Authority. The core business is the design and construction of new highway improvement schemes, as well as the design and maintenance of the County's highway structure assets and traffic control and information systems.
This year WCC is appointing four new Graduate Engineers across the Highways Capital Delivery, Bridge & Structural Design, and Bridge Maintenance teams.
Team Overview
Highways Capital Delivery – new link roads, junction improvements, cycle schemes, traffic safety schemes and town centre regeneration projects.
Bridge & Structural Design – technical design of new highway structures, often working with integrated multidisciplinary teams.
Bridge Maintenance – inspection, assessment, and maintenance of the county’s highway structures ranging from historic bridges to modern reinforced concrete and steel constructions.
Responsibilities
* Produce feasibility studies for new schemes.
* Carry out the technical design of new highways and structures using advanced structural modelling software and calculations.
* Communicate and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and members of the public.
* Prepare and tender construction contracts including drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
* Supervise construction sites and administer contracts.
Skills and Experience
* Ability to solve complex technical and non‑technical problems.
* Excellent communication skills, able to engage with diverse audiences.
* Well‑organised, capable of managing and maintaining project documentation.
* Experience using software such as CAD or structural analysis tools (e.g., Midas, Civil 3D).
Applicants should hold a BEng or BSc accredited by ICE and have studied modules relevant to the work undertaken by WCC. Practical experience on Civil Engineering projects is not required, but advantageous.

* Valid UK or EU passport or visa required.
* Full UK driving licence preferred or intended to acquire one.
* Salary starts at £33,699pa with clear progression in the Graduate Programme.
* Fluency duty: required to speak accurate spoken English to the public.
