Our client, a leading name in the power utilities and energy sector, is seeking a Lead Primary Design Engineer to join a team specialising in substation and cabling projects at both distribution and transmission levels, crucially supporting the UK's decarbonisation targets. Key Responsibilities: Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, fostering growth and development Acting as the technical authority on primary plant design, including power transformers, AIS/GIS switchgear, cabling, and accessories Developing concept and detailed designs in line with DNO and National Grid standards Managing project budgets to ensure cost-effective design delivery Delivering detailed substation plant designs, including layouts, specifications, and short-circuit calculations Ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations and acting as a Principal Designer when required Guiding on constructability issues to enhance project efficiency Conducting due diligence checks on internal and third-party technical outputs Job Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (or working towards it) Proven experience in substation primary plant design Strong leadership and team management skills Proficient working knowledge of CDM regulations Experience in power system studies and earthing design (beneficial) Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Benefits: Compeitive Salary Company Car or Car Allowance Monday to Friday 40hrs per week Hybrid working Private Pension Scheme Health cash-plan Discount and cashback scheme Discounted Gym Scheme Long Service Award Retail Discount Scheme Employee Assistance Programme Join our client's dynamic team as a Lead Primary Design Engineer and contribute to pioneering solutions in the power distribution and energy sector.
