Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Hazardous Waste team with daily activities related to the regime. This role involves working alongside regulatory reform efforts and assisting the team in transitioning the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The duties and responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical support for waste classification.
2. Supporting hazardous waste compliance and initiatives to improve compliance.
3. Supporting technical aspects of priority waste streams.
4. Focusing on upstream driven waste streams by area and national teams.
5. Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra with circular economy initiatives related to hazardous waste.
6. Supporting enforcement actions to reduce offending, aligned with the control strategy.
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team, part of the Regime Regulation within E&B Waste Regulation, is a small, high-performing team. We lead in hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management practices.
