The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team, based in our Belfast office.
Our 130-strong Belfast Design Hub delivers a range of local, national and international projects for clients including the Department for Infrastructure Roads, Translink, National Highways, Transport Scotland and Network Rail. Our multidisciplinary team includes Highway Engineering, Bridge/Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, River & Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Traffic Engineering/Transport Planning. We also serve as the BIM Centre of Excellence for Amey, providing a knowledge-rich environment for professional growth.

The role
Our Assistant Geotechnical Engineer will contribute to geotechnical engineering projects across NI, RoI, and the UK.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing geotechnical investigation and design deliverables
* Supporting Senior Engineers in design duties
* Preparing feasibility and technical reports including reports in accordance with CD 622
* Planning, programming, and cost estimation
* Design production and specifications
* Surveys, inspections, and construction supervision
* Supporting the development of Graduate Engineers, Degree Apprentices, and Technicians
* Adhering to project timelines and budgets
* Preparing technical reports such as Feasibility/Options Reports and Assessment Reports
* Keeping up with personal development to support team growth and professional progression
What you will bring to us
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in ground engineering or related field
* Chartered or Incorporated status or working towards it, as per the Engineering Council
* Understanding of technical governance procedures within a consulting environment
* Experience in a Graduate Engineer role or similar
* Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions complying with standards and client requirements
* Proficiency in relevant design software (Wallap, SlopeW, etc.)
* Experience with health, safety, and welfare project tasks, including CDM Regulations
* Understanding of technical governance procedures in consulting engineering
