You will be working in the Infrastructure OU based in Bridgend in where we are responsible for bringing design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide – combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer (Roads and Streets) who will be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of infrastructure engineering design projects for both external public and private sector clients and Skanska’s internal delivery teams.
As the Senior Engineer (Roads and Streets), you will:
1. Produce designs, models, specifications and technical reports to applicable standards and best practice (e.g., DMRB).
2. Create and deliver digital designs using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other engineering tools; provide technical assurance by checking, certifying and authorising outputs.
3. Plan, manage and deliver work packages including programming, pricing, proposals and cost estimation.
4. Support construction delivery with buildability input, site visits, surveys, investigations and technical advice.
5. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and CDM Designers’ Duties, embedding safe design principles.
6. Mentor and develop graduate engineers/technicians and maintain technical expertise through CPD to build strong customer relationships.
We are looking for:
7. Chartered (ICE) or working towards Chartered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering and proven highways/infrastructure design experience.
8. Strong technical expertise in highways geometry, drainage (SuDS, hydraulic design) and UK standards, including CDM Designer duties and safe-design principles.
9. Proficient in digital design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar) and experienced in preparing technical approvals and adoption submissions (e.g., S104, S106).
10. Excellent communicator and collaborator across multi‑disciplinary teams and clients, committed to quality, innovation and delivering buildable solutions.
