Senior Estimator - Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor
Location: Hertfordshire or Central London (flexible/hybrid working available)

The Opportunity
We are working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their high-performing pre-construction team.
This is a key strategic role, offering the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK. You will play a pivotal role in securing future work, shaping bid strategy, and contributing to the continued growth of a market-leading business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the estimating function on major tenders and frameworks
* Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, pricing, and bid submissions
* Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements
* Develop pricing strategies aligned with wider business objectives
* Liaise with internal stakeholders including commercial, planning, design, and operational teams
* Identify risks and opportunities within tenders and implement mitigation strategies
* Mentor and support junior estimators within the team
* Engage with clients, supply chain partners, and stakeholders during bid phases
About You
* Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a Tier 1 or large civil engineering contractor
* Strong background in infrastructure projects
* Excellent understanding of UK construction contracts
* Ability to lead bids and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
* Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
