Abacus is on the market to identify an ambitious Employment Solicitor to join a highly regarded international firm with a strong reputation in employment law.This practice is keen to hire the right person to bring some depth of experience across contentious and non-contentious employment law.To boost the leadership ranks, the firm is ideally seeking someone at Senior Associate level (of for Associate with aspirations). Indicatively, your experience is likely to be 3-8years PQE to join this dynamic team. However all applications will be considered due to pressures to boost the team due to demands from a broad mix of employer and employee clients across the UK. About the Role Youll work alongside an experienced employment team on a diverse caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The team advises private and public sector clients, including major corporates, SMEs, and professional services firms, offering exceptional exposure and training. Key Areas of Expertise The ideal candidate will have experience in some or all of the following: Advisory work providing day-to-day employment law advice on disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy, and discrimination matters. Employment litigation managing Employment Tribunal cases from instruction to hearing, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements. Drafting and reviewing contracts employment contracts, service agreements, staff handbooks, and workplace policies. Corporate support assisting with TUPE, employment due diligence, and workforce matters arising in mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. Equality, diversity & inclusion advising on compliance, training, and best practice. Industrial relations experience advising on trade union matters or collective consultation is advantageous. Senior executive work advising on termination packages and restrictive covenants. Day today, the role requires you to: Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice across the full spectrum of employment law matters, including complex disciplinary and grievance issues, discrimination, bullying and harassment, performance and absence management, TUPE, agency worker rights, and data protection/GDPR compliance. Act for clients in employment disputes, representing them before Employment Tribunals and courts, while continuing to develop and refine your advocacy skills. Advise clients across a diverse range of sectors, from local businesses to national and international organisations. Take a proactive approach to case management, assisting clients with strategic planning and delivering commercially focused employment law solutions. Collaborate with highly experienced colleagues, gaining exposure to complex, high-quality work that supports your ongoing professional growth and development. About You Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales / Northern Ireland). c. 38years PQE gained within a recognised employment team. Excellent understanding of UK employment law and tribunal procedure. Confident communicator with strong drafting and negotiation skills. Practical, commercial mindset and a commitment to exceptional client service.
