Virtual School Education Officer
Part‑time (job share) position within the CYC Virtual School. The role involves working with social workers and education settings to ensure all children in care aged 2‑18 have a high‑quality personal education plan (PEP) which is reviewed termly.
Overview
Act as the main point of contact for all enquiries, advise, support and challenge stakeholders to improve education plans for care‑experienced children and young people. Manage records, the e‑PEP system, attend PEP meetings, provide training and coordinate with the wider virtual school team.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality support to social workers and care‑lead educators.
* Maintain records and manage the electronic PEP system.
* Attend 1st PEP meetings and deliver advice and training to stakeholders.
* Signpost enquiries to appropriate team members.
* Monitor attendance, run data reports and liaise regularly with the virtual school team.
* Collaborate with the Education, Skills and SEND directorate to champion best practice.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working within education, particularly with inclusion for care‑experienced children and young people.
* Strong knowledge of the education system and personal development plans.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a municipal environment.
* Excellent verbal communication in spoken English, CEFR level C1 or higher.
Requirements
* Enhanced Criminal Record check via Disclosure and Barring Service.
* Effective time management for a hybrid working arrangement.
* Experience in a public‑facing role providing advice and guidance to the public.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working is available; the contract will be based at the designated council office for your team.
