Job overview

Working as part of the team, this role is integral in assisting and supporting the nursing staff to deliver high quality, safe, kind, efficient, effective and compassionate patient care, and participating in other departmental related duties as requested/ directed by the registered nursing and clinical team.

Post holder will also be instrumental in ensuring all staff/ colleagues, patients, families and visitors to the unit are treated with respect and dignity, and for reflecting the Trust values and behaviours at all times.

Main duties of the job

Working 5 days across Monday to Sunday, you will be working within a busy urological diagnostic and treatment hub providing a wide range of investigatory procedures and treatments for general urology and uro-oncology conditions. Main duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to;

* To provide and maintain a high standard of effective clinical nursing care to all patient’s visiting the unit

* To ensure that all documentation is accurately completed and maintained in accordance with Trust guidance including digital and computerised documentation

* To establish and maintain effective communication with all patients, relatives and staff.

* To communicate effectively between all members of unit, the multidisciplinary team and other members of Trust staff as required

* Present’s a good image of themselves and the department through their attitude, behaviour and general demeanour and role models the Trust’s values and behaviours

* To treat all colleagues and patients and their carer’s with courtesy and respect

* To follow Trust policy regarding sickness and absence

* To fully understand your role regarding health & safety, fire safety, security, major incidents, chemical incidents or bomb threats.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* To provide and maintain a high standard of effective clinical nursing care to all patient’s visiting the unit
* To safely use all necessary equipment following training
* To ensure that all documentation is accurately completed and maintained in accordance with Trust guidance including digital and computerised documentation
* To work within the departmental philosophy and maintain agreed operational and working standards.
* To establish and maintain effective communication with all patients, relatives and staff.
* To communicate effectively between all members of unit, the multidisciplinary team and other members of Trust staff as required
* Applies appropriate methods of communication using a wide range of verbal and non-verbal skills
* Listens to and respects the needs of patients in their care
* Treats everyone in a friendly and courteous manner
* Present’s a good image of themselves and the department through their attitude, behaviour and general demeanour and role models the Trust’s values and behaviours
* Responds promptly to all telephones and patients’ requests
* To liaise with other professionals and carers as required regarding on-going patient care within the hospital and the community
* To treat all colleagues and patients and their carer’s with courtesy and respect
* To check and maintain equipment as required and report faulty or broken equipment to the shift/ unit manager
* To participate in the checking and maintenance of stock within the department and report any deficiencies
* To ensure patients’ property and valuables are recorded and stored according to department and Trust policies
* To maintain effective communication with colleagues of all levels
* To follow departmental procedure for requesting annual leave
* To undertake all your rota obligations
* To follow Trust policy regarding sickness and absence
* To be aware of and follow all departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
* To fully understand your role regarding health & safety, fire safety, security, major incidents, chemical incidents or bomb threats.
