Driving Instructor (Driver Trainer) Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service (WFRS) Location: Training and Development Centre, Bodymoor Heath, B76 9JB Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week or Part time, 18.5 hours per week (non-uniform roles) Salary: Grade J (FT - £36,363 - £39,152 PT - £18,181 - £19,576) Are you an experienced driver with a passion for developing others and raising standards? Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service is looking for a dedicated and professional Driving Instructor (Driver Trainer) to join our Training and Development team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the skills and confidence of our operational workforce, ensuring our drivers are equipped to respond safely, effectively and professionally in high-pressure environments. As a Driving Instructor, you won’t just be delivering training, you’ll be influencing behaviour, building capability and embedding a culture of safety and excellence across the Service. Your expertise will directly contribute to protecting our firefighters, our communities and the people we serve. About the Role Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service is looking for a skilled and motivated Driving Instructor (Driver Trainer) to join our Training and Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our workforce is trained to the highest standards, supporting the safe and effective delivery of emergency response across the county. You will deliver initial and refresher driver training across a wide range of service vehicles, ensuring all drivers meet statutory, operational and safety requirements while developing their confidence and capability on the road. What You’ll Be Doing Delivering practical and theoretical driver training across all vehicle categories Training and assessing staff to become Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) and Emergency Response drivers Monitoring and assessing driving standards, providing clear, constructive feedback Designing and developing driver training programmes and courses Maintaining accurate training records in line with legislation and awarding body requirements Providing specialist vehicle and equipment training Ensuring all training is delivered in line with health and safety standards and best practice Supporting continuous improvement by advising on driver training, legislation and operational practice Key Requirements A full, clean UK driving licence including categories B, BE, C, D1, D1E (held for a minimum of 3 years) DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) or working towards this Experience driving a range of vehicles, including LGVs An assessor qualification (or equivalent) in competence assessment Strong understanding of vehicle and driving legislation Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team For further information please see the Job Description and Person Specification .
