We have an exciting opportunity for a Geophysical Field Technician to join our expanding geophysics team based in Hemel Hempstead.
This is an ideal role for a motivated graduate or early-career geophysicist seeking hands-on, technically challenging fieldwork across the UK. The position is strongly focused on practical geophysical site investigations, outdoor survey operations, buried utility mapping, and the collection of high-quality geophysical data, with opportunities to develop into data processing, interpretation, and project delivery over time. Good communication skills are needed, the candidate must work well within a team environment and be self-motivated.
This role will particularly suit candidates who:
* Hold (or are predicted to achieve in 2026) a 2:2 degree or above in geophysics or a related geoscience discipline
* Enjoy regular outdoor, physically demanding, and technically varied site work

The Geophysical Field Technician Role
The successful candidate will play an active role in a wide range of geophysical and utility surveying projects, with a strong emphasis on field operations and technical site delivery. Good communication skills are needed, the candidate must work well within a team environment and be self-motivated.
Key responsibilities include:
* Extensive site-based data acquisition using:
* Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
* Electrical conductivity mapping
* Resistivity systems
* Magnetometry
* Microgravity
* Seismic techniques
* Undertaking geophysical and PAS128 utility surveys across the UK
* Inspection cover lifting, service tracing, and buried utility detection
* Electromagnetic locators Using tracer cables, sondes, and electromagnetic locating systems
* Operating high-precision GPS and total station survey equipment
* Collecting, recording, and managing accurate site notes
* Supporting equipment maintenance, calibration, and store management
* Travelling nationwide to support projects and operational requirements
