Position Summary
Reporting to manager appointed as applicable, the Principal Structural Designer is responsible for carrying out Structural Design for the Company. This role plays an essential part of the success of the business by ensuring that the company continues to drive innovation and deliver commercially viable products, to achieve the Companies objectives of growth and profitability.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Provide technical expertise Resolve technical queries and ensure Satisfactory
2. Proficient in preparing and checking design deliverables within the budget hours/Norms and schedule
3. Competent in completing site surveys and interpret survey data/document in completion of design deliverables
4. Responsible for a number of other design personnel, ensuring work scope delivery and technical quality
5. Provide input to project planning as part of the team for achieving the target and completion within the budget and schedule; ensuring that all design work is carried out in accordance with priorities and schedules
6. Plan, budget and coordinate resources, contribute to the development of plans, schedules and estimates for the individual work scopes.
7. Skilled at preparing design scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
8. Reporting on job progress as well as reviewingprogress and cost reports regarding design activities.
9. Comply with relevant codes of conduct
10. Ensure that all work complies with the Company and Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate
11. Report any incidents/near misses, hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, or positive behaviour to a responsible person immediately, and participate in incident investigations where required
12. Actively participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, HSE audits, and other relevant meetings where required
13. Perform work responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and economic requirements
Qualifications
Highest Qualifications
14. HND or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing a good working knowledge
Lowest Qualifications
15. Holds an ONC or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing a good working knowledge
Knowledge, Competencies, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
16. Conversant and Knowledgeable of Design Principles offshore operations, maintenance layout and plant design including but not limited to: Fabrication and constructability techniques, Lifting aid design, installation techniques and LOLER lift plans, Application of structural analysis packages, Survey Techniques, Other associated modifications within the Oil and Gas industry
17. Proficient and Knowledgeable of regulatory framework and legislation
18. Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and where appliable client codes and standards.
19. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk ReCap
20. Ability to understand client requirements, proficient in scope definition through Concept/FEED/Detailed Design and support fabrication and construction
21. Competent in respect of constructability to support fabrication and construction
22. Foster positive and effective working relationships with Clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
23. Proficient in various applicable design software systems and Microsoft packages
24. Good interpersonal skills - Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
25. Sound time and resource management skills
26. Cognisant of business requirements and needs and adaptable to changing environment and business requirements
27. Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations
28. Able to travel in UK and abroad, as well as offshore
