Main Responsibilities
Handelsbanken plc’s Finance department is based in London with a small number of staff based in Districts. This team is responsible for statutory accounting and reporting, regulatory reporting, technical accounting expertise, business and financial control, tax, capital and treasury.
The key stakeholders for this team are UK Management, the UK Board, UK Audit Committee, UK Districts, Branches, Chief Branch Office (CBO), Group Finance, Suppliers, external and internal auditors.
Our main focus as a team is to provide high-quality business partnering to branches and Head Office department heads, including financial planning and analysis and the production of management information. This includes supporting the branch network, UK Districts and CBO in any finance related matter. One of the goals of the department is to bring an increased business focus to the finance function; hence, there is an expectation on the role to develop an in-depth understanding of the development of the business.
This role will follow our hybrid working guidelines but will also include travel to our Branches.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities for the Financial Controller are:
* Support the branch network and Head Office department managers to ensure local control and reporting procedures are in line with internal instructions and policies, and with external regulatory requirements.
* Ensure the Handelsbanken steering system is maintained and educate and train branches/ Head Office departments on the steering system.
* Support the operational embedment of applicable accounting rules and procedures in the branch network and functions
* Ensure high cost awareness, cost control and efficiency in the UK business;
* Providing education and training across Branches and Districts;
* Production of regular management information and financial analysis to the key internal stakeholders;
* Ensure Finance as a function works as efficiently as possible with stakeholders across the Bank.
* Assist and work together with finance teams on specific financial control tasks of interest as well as larger business development projects.
* The post holder will operate in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

* Sound knowledge of Business control and analysis;
* Strong communication skills;
* Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools, especially Excel, Access and Power Point;
* Highly analytical;
* Strong attention to detail.
