We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team and support the design, validation, verification, and certification of next‑generation Electrical Power Distribution Systems (PDS).
This role covers electrical architectures operating from 28VDC up to 1500VDC and plays a key part in ensuring system safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance for future aircraft platforms.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
* Support the design and development of the high‑voltage architecture and associated high‑voltage equipment for the Hydrogen Propulsion Fuel Cell System.
* Perform analysis and testing of power distribution components and systems to verify compliance with specifications and requirements.
* Troubleshoot and resolve power distribution system issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools.
* Engage with external partners and suppliers to develop and mature high‑voltage power distribution equipment for the hydrogen propulsion system.
* Prepare, maintain, and review PDS documentation, records, and reports to support validation and verification in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
* Provide technical support and guidance to engineers, technicians, and operators on power distribution system–related topics.
* Maintain awareness of latest developments and best practices in power distribution system engineering.
* Contribute to technical review gates, including Concept Readiness Review (CRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR).
* Support CAA Panel – Discipline 5, categories a), b), c), and d).
* Develop and analyse electrical load profiles across multiple aircraft operating states for the high‑voltage system.
Experience Required:
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 6 years’ experience in Power Distribution System (PDS) design within the aviation industry.
* Strong understanding of power electronics used in aerospace applications, including High‑Voltage Solid‑State Power Controllers (SSPCs).
* Proven ability to plan, build, and execute verification and validation testing to support system qualification and certification activities.
* Hands‑on experience in PDS analysis, testing, inspection, and troubleshooting.
* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Good working knowledge of applicable airworthiness regulations, standards, and guidance material, including: AMC 20‑136, AMC 20‑158, CAA Certification Panel 5, categories a), b), c), and d)
