Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Public Affairs Officer on a 6 months contract with a possibility of further extension.
Main purpose of the role:
* To support the Public Affairs n providing a responsive, efficient, high quality and professional internal and external communications service for the client, with a focus on enhancing and protecting the organisation’s reputation.
* To provide efficient and professional support for the team to ensure the delivery of effective communications and engagement activities, using existing and emerging channels to achieve this, in accordance with the client’s corporate values.
Summary of responsibilities:
* To act as the first point of contact, maintaining professional communications with internal and external customers, including email and telephone enquiries, handling them as appropriate.
* To create press releases, news reports, marketing materials, statements for social media, websites etc, to agreed standards.
* To create, edit and publish engaging video content, developing the client’s use of video and social media.
* To respond appropriately to media enquiries, preparing media releases and arranging interview opportunities.To attend internal and external meetings, forums, press briefings, etc., to act as a representative of the client, providing communications support and to take notes of actions as required.
* To provide professional advice to Members and officers on working with the media and effective targeting of the wide range of audiences for the client’s work.
* Provide communications support to client partnership ventures.
* To ensure effective and consistent use of the client’s corporate identity
