About the Role
We are looking for a Payroll Officer to join our People Operations team on a part-time, hybrid basis. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll for Oakdale staff across all locations. As part of the People Operations team, you will support the smooth running of payroll services, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and provide excellent service to colleagues.
This is a hands-on role that suits someone detail-oriented, organised, and keen to develop their payroll expertise while contributing to a people-focused organisation. Flexible working patterns will be considered to suit the right candidate.
What You'll Be Doing
Payroll Processing
* Process monthly payroll for Oakdale staff accurately and on time
* Monitor cut-off dates and ensure all required information is received in advance of deadlines
* Liaise with HR and managers to ensure payroll data is complete and correct
* Assist with the production and secure issue of payslips, both paper and electronic
* Reconcile starters, leavers, and transfers within the payroll system
* Ensure timely delivery of RTI submissions, P60s, and final payments to HMRC
Pension & Benefits Administration
* Support the administration of employee pensions, including enrolments, contributions, and compliance with auto-enrolment
* Assist with salary sacrifice schemes such as cycle-to-work and tech schemes
* Support administration of health and wellbeing benefits, life assurance, and employee assistance programmes
* Provide guidance to colleagues on payroll-related benefits and process voluntary or statutory benefits
Statutory Compliance & Reporting
* Maintain awareness of payroll legislation including tax, National Insurance, and statutory deductions
* Assist with P11d Benefit in Kind returns and reconciliations where required
* Provide payroll information for audits, mortgage requests, National Statistics Office, and other internal/external requests
* Ensure accurate maintenance of employee payroll records and HR systems
Payroll Support & Customer Service
* Respond to payroll queries from colleagues and resolve within agreed timescales
* Provide clear, professional guidance on payroll, pensions, and deductions
* Support the People Operations team with ad-hoc tasks as required
What We're Looking For
Key Requirements:
* Experience working in a busy payroll function within a medium sized organisation
* Good understanding of payroll processes, tax, National Insurance, and statutory requirements
* ERP and payroll systems literacy
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Customer-focused with the ability to work collaboratively
Competencies:

* Competent in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
