Job Description:
Our client is hiring a Project Director to lead large-scale substation projects supporting data centres. The role involves direct oversight of multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, to spec, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Own full delivery responsibility (technical, commercial, programme).
* Coordinate all design and engineering teams under the Lead Consultant role.
* Ensure deliverables meet client expectations and quality standards.
* Track changes in scope and ensure commercial implications are captured.
Commercial Management
* Oversee project profitability, cost tracking, and revenue reporting.
* Produce monthly financial performance reports and quarterly board updates.
* Agree fees, scope, and drawdown schedules with clients.
* Raise invoices and follow up on outstanding payments (max 60-day terms).
Client Management & Business Development
* Maintain direct relationships with key clients.
* Handle all project-related issues or escalations.
* Identify cross-selling opportunities and support new business pitches.
* Attend client meetings and presentations as needed.
Requirements
* BEng or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or similar.
* 10+ years’ experience with substation/switchyard projects (up to 765kV ideal).
* Strong presales, design, and delivery management experience.
* Comfortable with project P&L ownership and reporting.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Proficiency in MS Office and project/design tools.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer preferred.
