Working week: Opening hours of setting 7.30am to 6.00pm shifts worked within this time frame and shift pattern discussed at interview
Work with and support children to contribute to a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery.
Role and responsibilities
Encourage independence, age appropriately, through the Routines of the Nursery.
Get to know children very well, especially own key person children in order to plan and provide activities and resources to meet all children's individual needs and interests.
Provide comfort and reassurance to any child upset or poorly.
Contribute to activities suitable to the age range of children your working with in conjunction with other staff.
Support and liaise with all parents/carers.
Work alongside outside professionals of children with SEND in order to fully integrate those children into the setting.
Record accidents in the accident book and on Tapestry. Ensuring management are made aware of it before the parents.
Complete incident forms, behaviour forms and incidents at home forms, nappy changing forms, mediation forms as required. And ensure they are signed at the end of the sessions.
Use Tapestry to log children's progress and development and communicate with parents/carers.
Attend all out of work activities eg, training, staff meetings, parents' consultations, Christmas and end of year parties.
Prepare snacks and clean snack areas and kitchen, prior to and when finished.
Clean snack areas and kitchen after lunch times.
Clean paint and craft equipment after use where needed.
Ensure each child is collected by the person named on the register at the end of the sessions.
Work to the Routines of the Nursery and younger children's routines from home.
Carry out adult led activities both indoors and outdoors to suit children's age and stage of development throughout the sessions.
Join in with children's free play both indoors and outdoors throughout the sessions.
Ensure meal times/snack times are sociable and promoting independence.
Carry out children's personal care as required, in a sensitive manner.
Keep the Nursery clean and safe throughout the day, cleaning spillages etc as you go, remove any broken toys as noticed and clean toilets and sinks as required.
Keep play areas clutter free and encourage children to tidy away toys as they are finished, age appropriately.
Last half hour of your working day, clean the area of the nursery as per the daily rota.
