Wellbeing Service, Health Improvement Team, Public Health
Fixed Term until 31/03/27 – 36 hrs, 12pm-8pm
This is an exciting opportunity to join the NHS Borders Wellbeing Service (GP Walk‑In – National Scottish Government Funded Initiative), which provides a range of programmes to support clients to make positive changes to their health and emotional wellbeing. The programmes include:
* Support for healthier lifestyles, including healthy eating and physical activity
* Smoking cessation programmes
* Addressing mild anxiety, stress and depression

Location: Hawick Cottage Hospital
Responsibilities
The post-holder will provide professional support to individuals using evidence‑based health behaviour change and guided self‑help approaches to improve health and wellbeing. Key duties include:
* Working within a team in Hawick Cottage Hospital and maintaining local networks and awareness of available opportunities for clients.
* Delivering one‑to‑one support and group sessions to promote lifestyle change.
* Keeping accurate and confidential records of clients’ progress.
* Contributing to service development and evaluation activities.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
* A degree in a relevant area (e.g., health improvement, support and care services) or equivalent.
* Relevant practical experience of providing professional support to individuals.
* Active, empathic and reflective listening skills.
Specified working pattern: 36 hours per week over 7 days per week, 12pm-8pm. Days and times may vary to cover service needs.
