An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Hand Therapy team.
We are seeking a skilled clinician with a passion for high-quality, evidence-based hand therapy to support the delivery of specialist rehabilitation across acute outpatient pathways. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary colleagues in trauma, orthopaedics and plastics, managing a complex clinical caseload and contributing to innovative service development.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
6. Managing a complex caseload of traumatic, post-operative and elective hand therapy patients
7. Supporting the Hand Injury Post-Operative pathway and therapist-led clinics
8. Providing clinical leadership within the hand therapy team
9. Supervising, mentoring and supporting Band 6 therapists, rotational physiotherapists and students
10. Contributing to competency development, appraisal and ongoing professional support for junior staff
11. Leading and supporting service development initiatives aligned with continuous improvement principles
12. Participating in and supporting local and national audit (including STAR) ensuring accurate data collection, submission and feedback into practice
13. Using audit findings to inform quality improvement and evidence-based service development
14. Contributing to research activity and implementation of best practice guidelines
15. Working collaboratively with surgical, nursing and therapy colleagues to maintain efficient patient pathways

In recognition of the need for enhanced provision, Core Therapies are looking to move towards 7 day working and as such the successful candidate will be expected to support this model of care where it is already implemented and in the future implementations.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
26. HCPC registration
27. Diploma or Degree in physiotherapy
28. Post graduate courses in hand therapy
Desirable criteria
29. Member of the BAHT
30. Working towards accredited hand therapist (AHT) recognition.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
31. Previous varied experience within physiotherapy
32. Significant experience in hand therapy
33. Good understanding of MDT dynamics
34. Experience of leading and management of a team including appraisal
Desirable criteria
35. Recognised as a Clinical Educator
36. Evidence of teaching in relation to hand therapy
37. Knowledge & awareness of current strategic issues in the NHS
