Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period

Key responsibilities
* Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, consultant ward rounds or case conferences relevant to the speciality to identify medication problems and provide advice
* Reviewing medication charts/EPMA on wards and community teams to optimise treatment, ensure accuracy, monitor interactions and adverse effects, and interpret medicines information for individual service users
* Giving prescribing advice to medical staff and non-medical prescribers
* Advising on medicines risk management and ensuring compliance with medicines legislation
* Providing medicines optimisation advice to medical, nursing and other staff and medicines information to service users, carers and staff
* Liaising with GPs, PCNs and community pharmacists; involvement in discharge planning to meet community medication needs
* Providing a medicines reconciliation service for patients with complex needs
* Providing advice and information to service users and carers; supporting self-medication schemes to promote independence
* Supporting the near-patient testing clozapine clinic
* Developing and implementing protocols and guidelines for safe, effective and economic use of medicines; contributing to Medicines Optimisation Group
* Involvement in a Trust-wide medicines information service and development of a comprehensive medicines management system
* Providing clinical supervision and support for less-experienced pharmacists, students and supervise technicians
* Undertaking clinical/practice research and audits to influence practice (e.g., POMH‑UK)
* Dispensing medicines using the Trust labelling machine when required
* Assisting senior pharmacists to develop clinical and other services
* Participating in the review of drug-related incidents
* Participating in formulary development and review in the specialities
* Writing and contributing to shared care guidelines where required
* Writing and contributing to PGDs and training staff on PGD use
* Participating in, contributing to and taking minutes for clinical pharmacy meetings
* Identifying problems with pharmacy supplies and reporting or liaising with contractors to rectify
* Representing pharmacy at ward/team level meetings
