Role Purpose
The After School Childcare Lead will oversee the day-to-day running of Foundation Sports & Play's after school provision, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment for all children. The role involves planning, delivering, and supervising a wide range of activities that promote play, learning, and wellbeing, while managing a small team of playworkers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the daily running of the after school provision, ensuring all policies and safeguarding procedures are followed.
* Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote physical activity, creativity, and social development.
* Supervise and support childcare staff, providing guidance and direction as required.
* Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, carrying out risk assessments and maintaining accurate records.
* Manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with Foundation Sports & Play's behaviour policy.
* Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and school staff to ensure high-quality communication and partnership working.
* Monitor and record attendance, accidents, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, escalating where necessary.
* Support children with homework, healthy snacks, and free play as part of the daily routine.
* Ensure resources, equipment, and spaces are set up and tidied away safely and efficiently.
* Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the wraparound childcare programme.
Person SpecificationEssential:
* Experience working with children in a childcare, school, or play setting.
* Strong leadership and organisational skills.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and first aid procedures.
* Ability to plan and deliver a variety of activities to meet children's needs.
* Good communication skills with children, parents, and staff.
* Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative when leading sessions.
Desirable:
* Relevant childcare/playwork qualification (Level 2/3).
* Paediatric First Aid qualification.
* Food Hygiene certificate.
* Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
* An interest in sports, creative arts, or other enrichment activities.
Additional Information
* This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
* Training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
* Flexibility may be required to support additional events or holiday clubs.
