Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Warrington-based two-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport, as they require a teaching assistant to deliver speech and language support across the reception classes. This is a long-term full-time contract where you will be delivering 1:1 and small group speech and language assessments on a full-time basis ( hours per week).
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining the EYFS cohort team, joining a team of supportive and experienced teachers. You will work alongside your new colleagues to deliver an inclusive, accessible and stimulating learning environment for your new pupils by getting to know them as the individuals they are and utilising an array of learning equipment. You will play an integral part in the education of a select number of pupils across both classes that are struggling with their speech and language due to diagnosed SEN/ALN. You will offerprehensive 1:1 support on a timetabled basis, planning and delivering bespoke speech and language interventions/therapy to support their needs and meet their EHCP requirements. You will utilise an array of strategies to support their speech and language development, such as Makaton, PECs, emotion cards, and associative material. As you will be leading on SALT across the reception cohort, you will be required to accurately record and maintain their progress, giving accurate feedback to teachers, SENCO and guardians/parents.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS screening, have recent relevant classroom experience, and:
1. Experience delivering SALT on a 1:1 or small group basis
2. Experience working with EYFS and/or KS1
3. Be able tomit to a long-term full-time contract
4. Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
