Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site. We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year. Opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to join our Specialised Physiotherapy rotation scheme on a 12month fixed term contract (Maternity leave cover). The Trust encompasses the acute site and the Liverpool Community areas and has specialist services throughout respiratory, orthopaedics and neurology. We are keen to recruit highly motivated members of staff with a developed interest and experience in paediatric care and a desire to advance their knowledge and skills. You will be part of a well-established and experienced team of therapists who will provide support, clinical supervision and training. You will work as part of innovative multidisciplinary teams that include specialist nurses, psychologists, AHP’s and consultants. There is a focus on evidence-based service development, with an expectation that applicants will have experience of audit, research and innovative practice. Staff are supported in their professional development through a programme of In-service Training and opportunities to participate in internal and external training schemes. The team provides clinical supervision and line management for junior physiotherapists and assistants. Advert Role Summary: To act as an autonomous practitioner within a specialised paediatric physiotherapy and occupational Therapy service, providing physiotherapy assessment, treatment and ongoing physical management to children in a range of ward settings, outpatient departments, specialised clinics and community settings. Participate in the physiotherapy rotational scheme, working across the Trust. Oppurtunities include orthopaedic in-patients and outpatients, rheumatology, burns and plastics, hydrotherapy, limb reconstruction, ITU, HDU, medical and surgical inpatients, Cystic Fibrosis, LTV, acquired brain injury, neurology, neurosurgery, tone management, neuromuscle and oncology and community roles supporting patients with neurodisability. Each of the rotations builds on previous experience enabling further development of clinical and managerial competencies. Manages own caseload and is responsible for a defined area of the service, working with and without direct supervision. Supervise and support more junior therapists, therapy practition e rs and support workers. Participate in training and education and supervise and manage undergraduate students and work experience students. Participate in out of hours, weekend and on-call rota work as Be an active member of the department supporting with appropriate non- clinical roles as delegated by the service leads.
