Overview
We are looking for a motivated Junior Geospatial / Masterplanning Assistant to join a growing masterplanning and urban design team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with strong GIS/CAD skills and an interest in large-scale international planning projects. You will support senior team members in delivering major masterplanning work, gaining hands-on experience across GIS mapping, CAD production, spatial analysis, and design coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in GIS and CAD workflows for masterplanning projects, ensuring accurate data preparation and mapping.
* Support the creation of spatial databases, baseline mapping, and graphic visualisations.
* Contribute to site analysis, land use studies, and infrastructure mapping using GIS tools.
* Help translate conceptual design ideas into clear CAD drawings and layout plans.
* Work closely with urban designers, planners, architects, and engineers as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Support the integration of GIS outputs into reports, diagrams, presentations, and client deliverables.
* Maintain organised drawing files and follow established project standards.
* Carry out research into regional context, site constraints, opportunities, and development patterns.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline.
* Working knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS) and CAD tools (AutoCAD).
* Awareness of spatial analysis, mapping techniques, and geospatial data handling.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
* Good communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset.
* Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple tasks in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Preferred (Not Essential)
* Experience or university project work related to large-scale masterplanning or international development.
* Familiarity with Middle East planning context or interest in global development.
* Exposure to 3D modelling (Rhino, SketchUp, Revit) or BIM workflows.
* Basic scripting or automation knowledge (Python, ModelBuilder) is a bonus.
