Are you a Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist or Healthcare Practitioner looking for a fresh opportunity? If so, we’d love to welcome you to our supportive and forward-thinking team at King's Mill Hospital.
Our multidisciplinary team of Healthcare Scientists, Physiologists, Practitioners, Assistants, and Trainees delivers a wide range of routine and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in both Respiratory and Sleep Physiology. We also run Physiologist/Scientist-led CPAP and Sleep Clinics, offering a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
Main duties of the job
Your Role Will Include:
* Performing and reporting on a wide range of respiratory investigations, including: Spirometry, Diffusion Studies, Plethysmography, Nitrogen Washout, Bronchial Challenge Testing, Six-Minute Walks, Muscle Pressure Tests (MIPS/MEPS/SNIP), CPET (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) involvement and development
* Supporting the Sleep/CPAP Service, including: Overnight Oximetry, Multi-Channel Respiratory Sleep Studies, CPAP Therapy Reviews (face-to-face and virtual) and Initiations
* Contributing to the care of over7,000 home CPAPand200+ home NIV patients.
* Mentoring and supervising junior staff and supporting their training and competency development.

Qualifications
* BSc Healthcare Science /Clinical Physiology/Post Grad Diploma Respiratory Science or equivalent
* Able to work towards AHCS Registration
* ARTP Practitioner Exam or equivalent
* AHCS Registration
* European Computer Driving Licence
* TAQA/CAVA or equivalent
* ILS Certificate
Qualifications/Academic/Craft/Professional
* BSC in Clinical Physiology (2003 onwards)/ Post Grad Diploma Respiratory Science STP/ MSc Clinical Science or equivalent (up to 2002)
* Able to work towards Registration with AHCS
* Professional Exams or Completed Competency Framework
* ARTP Practitioner Exam or equivalent
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
* Qualified for AHCS Registration
* TAQA/CAVA or equivalent
* ILS Certificate
Further Training
* Training in NHS procedures, protocols and policies
* Ability to report on own clinical work
Experience
* Experience of Respiratory Sleep procedures gained either post graduate (up to 2002)/ registered practice (2003 onwards)
* Experience in training support staff & trainee Clinical Physiologists
Contractual Requirements
* 37.5 hours per weeks
Knowledge
* Specialist knowledge and experience across a range of Respiratory & Sleep Procedures
* Professional post-graduate exams or Completed Competency Framework in a specific specialised area
* Practical experience in /Respiratory or Sleep at an independent practice level including investigation, interpretation, reporting and recommending alternative investigations.
* To be able to identify when emergency medical intervention is required and take appropriate action.
* Evidence of professional awareness, CPD, and up-to-date knowledge through structured study, reflective practice and peer review. This includes epidemiology, pathology, diagnostic strategies, interpretation of investigations, management strategies and outcomes, contributing to clinical pathways.
* Ability to work as an autonomous Practitioner holding their own caseload.
* Good communication verbal and written skills.
* Good organisational skills with an ability to demonstrate initiative, motivation and independent thinking.
* Good interpersonal skills with an ability to manage self effectively.
* IT Literate
* Experience in training/teaching/assessing
