Adult social care lawyer

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on adult social care law, including matters of safeguarding, capacity, funding, and residence.
• Take the lead on complex casework and represent the authority in court and tribunal proceedings, particularly in the Court of Protection.
• Prepare and review a wide range of legal documents, from pleadings and witness statements to settlement agreements and counsel instructions.
• Deliver clear, solutions-focused guidance that supports both statutory duties and wider strategic objectives.
• Act as an advocate for the service in committees, panels, and external forums.
• Contribute to the growth of the team by sharing expertise, mentoring colleagues, and supporting training initiatives.
• Handle disputes involving deprivation of liberty, care funding, and other sensitive issues with diligence and professionalism.
