University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. This role is for a cancer‑care nurse with a strong understanding of haematology. The position is an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Band 6 nurse for the C7 Haematology Day Unit on a 9‑month secondment/fixed‑term basis. The team provides patient‑centred, holistic care to patients undergoing apheresis and haematology treatments in a day‑case setting, with training for all aspects of care. Procedures include stem‑cell harvest, therapeutic plasma exchange, leucodepletion, venesection, donor lymphocyte infusion, blood transfusion, various chemotherapies, ambulatory service and CAR‑T therapy.

What You’ll Do
The successful applicant will join a highly skilled specialist team that offers treatments including SACT (Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapies) and supportive therapies to haematology patients. You will be involved in procedures such as apheresis, bone‑marrow biopsies and venesections, and IT chemotherapy administration. You will rotate around cancer care to understand nursing requirements for haematology patients. The unit operates 8 am–8 pm Mon–Fri, 8 am–4 pm Sat–Sun, with an apheresis on‑call service for out‑of‑hours haematological emergencies.

Person Specification – Essential Criteria
* Qualified nurse (degree/diploma) and registered on the appropriate part of the register.
* Significant post‑registration experience/qualification/training, including experience and knowledge within haematology.
* Ward management experience.
* Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.
* Experience in an acute hospital setting.
* Evidence of supporting/managing a range of learners in practice.
* Evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice.
* Ability to demonstrate clinical decision‑making and judgement.
* Commitment to the post and Care Group responsibilities.
* Commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience handling adverse events and complaints.
* Appraisal skills.
* Experience acting as a practice assessor or supporting learner progression.
* Some insight into budget management.
