Role Title: Composite Technical Lead Reporting Line Manager: The Composite Technical Lead will report directly to the Operational Lead. Departmental Overview: The Manufacturing Department within Artemis Technologies is responsible for ensuring the on-time and on-cost of parts supplied to build the eFoiler® and its systems. Working with the Design Team and Mechanical Engineers to develop efficient and practical processes for building eFoilers. Role Overview: The Composite Technical Lead will have both a lead & a hands-on role to build high quality Composite components for the Artemis eFoiler®. Working within a small team, the Composite Technical Lead will be responsible for organising labour to process work and for the training and development of new operators. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Composite Technical Lead is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the production plan in eFoiler Manufacturing/Assembly. Lead team by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is always maintained. Organise labour to process work in accordance with the area Production plan. Liaise with Support functions to ensure timely delivery of components. Train new operators and ensure skills matrices are kept up to date. Ensure quality rejects are actioned on a timely basis to ensure smooth production flow. Ensure all operators follow company, regulatory, quality, health and safety procedures. Schedule overtime within preapproved levels. Ensure correct and timely tracking of labour hours by all production operatives. 5s Ownership of area of responsibility, maintaining visual metrics as required. Focus on continuous improvement of work area and outputs. Carry out effective performance management for the team. Develop & maintain visual management systems in line with visual factory. Carry out RCCA investigations into any Quality/Process/Safety Issues. Always ensure clear communications to and from Employees. Rework and repairs where necessary. Handling of Carbon, E-Glass and foam materials Preparing and assembling mould/tooling as required. Cutting and laying of Prepreg materials. Vacuum bagging and cooking of parts. Trimming, assembling and fitting composite parts. Other production tasks as required on occasion that align with the individual's training and experience. Knowledge and Specialist Skills Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in both Prepreg and wet laminating. Preferred Experience: Team leading experience and ability to run small projects. Working knowledge of KPIs and Operational processes. Working knowledge of LEAN and 5S methodology. Key Skills Required: Technical Skills: Ability to lead lamination teams to successfully execute production plan. Ability to tactically plan tasks, resources & material in support of master production schedule. Full technical understanding of the processes within area of responsibility & ability to develop full understanding of new processes in development. Ability to create, develop and effectively communicate Standard Operating Procedures. Ability to read technical drawings/instruction. Maintain a high level of workplace organisation as per agreed standard & actively evolve that standard. Always comply with Health and safety policies whilst in the workplace. Exercise absolute integrity in respect of confidential matters. Preferred Technical Skills: Experience in composites manufacturing and assembly acquired within the Marine industry. Experience of working with design and manufacturing engineers in the early stages of a project. Communication skills: Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and resolve. An appreciation of, and an ability to, positively resolve issues arising from competing views. Articulate written, visual and verbal communicator. Teamworking: Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
